IBC 2011, Amsterdam, Sept 9th, 2011 – ASSIMILATE (www.assimilateinc.com), the leading provider of powerful post-production tools for digital workflows, and on-set technology developer DIT Station Ltd, have announced an OEM partnership. This partnership sees SCRATCH Lab™ deployed within a brand new range of compact, portable, digital lab and dailies workflow systems, which sets new standards for on-location workflows. The DIT Station will be featured in live demonstrations at ASSIMILATE’s booth, H7.11, during IBC 2011.

Harnessing SCRATCH Lab on Mac OS®X for a trio of configurations, DIT Stations can be used on or near-set for a wide range of vital tasks by key departments on a production. Each of the new Tornado, Hornet and Raptor DIT Stations work with cameras ranging from RED and ARRI all the way to DSLRs. DIT Station is available in different modular configurations of memory card readers, RED Rocket accelerators, data storage and HDMI, SDI and DVI network connectivity options, while full UPS backup delivers redundancy and reliability.

The product’s main performance capabilities include: realtime playback and QC review of materials of any format or colorspace at up to 5K resolution; the non-destructive application of LUTs and primary color grades; convergence adjustment of 3D stereo shots; conforming of scenes and takes; metadata and shot management; audio synchronization; and the high-performance creation of multiple versions and deliverables.

Using such features as SCRATCH Lab’s CONstruct™ module, the operator can load and playback, side-by-side, shots from any camera format or colorspace, at any resolution on the same timeline. They can also manage an unlimited number of takes, plates and units from a shot on a single timeline, while passing scene, take, audio, and stereo convergence information through the entire project.

Each DIT Station is has been designed as a rugged, lightweight and highly-portable unit, about the size of a large guitar case, allowing it to be easily transported. It can also be set-up on location within 60 seconds.

“Powered by SCRATCH Lab, DIT Station is more than just a dailies system,” said DIT Station founder and director Martin Christien. “Everything a production could need is included in the feature set: flexible conform, advanced audio sync, real-time color grading, unlimited versioning, and simultaneous deliverables output. Producers will benefit from major cost and time-savings as compared to film and tape-based workflows.”

“SCRATCH Lab and DIT Station were made for one another,” said Steve Bannerman VP of marketing at ASSIMILATE, “DITs and DPs can playback any camera format they can throw at it, and output every format that matters to their key departments. All the tools they need on-set are contained in one, real-time, yet lightweight, portable and hugely powerful product.”

DIT Station is sold in the UK and distributed in Europe exclusively by MediaPros, in the US directly by DIT Station, Ltd. The first DIT Stations are now shipping, and are currently being used on features in America and the UK.

SCRATCH Lab is the industry's first and only comprehensive end-to-end digital lab system that brings review, versioning, conform, primary color grading, digital dailies and deliverables all into one fast, intuitive application.
