ASSIMILATE, the leading provider of powerful post-production tools for digital workflows, has teamed up with The Bridge Media Training Ltd in London, UK, to provide in-depth digital cinema and broadcast training courses for its SCRATCH® DI finishing and SCRATCH Lab™ VFX and on-location dailies workflow products.

Leveraging its recent sales successes in Europe, ASSIMILATE has appointed The Bridge as its accredited training partner in the UK as part of a broad, global training and education strategy.

The first set of courses, which include one-day overviews, three and five-day intensive training schedules, and two-day bolt-on courses, will cover all aspects of the toolsets and capabilities of SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab within 2D and 3D stereo workflows. These courses will run from the end of September to December 2011, and dates for 2012 will be announced shortly.

Trainees will work with a range of digital materials originated from cameras including, RED ONE, RED EPIC, ARRI Alexa and DSLRs, and will also gain direct experience integrating SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab into digital cinema and broadcast pipelines.

SCRATCH DI training courses are aimed at color graders, post production artists, film and documentary makers and camera technicians, and will cover SCRATCH’s playback and review, conform, editing, paint, color grading, compositing and finishing tools, along with its 3D stereo features.

SCRATCH Lab courses are targeted to digital imaging technicians (DITs), camera technicians and cinematographers, and at post-production technicians involved with the production and management of VFX dailies. Trainees will learn how to integrate SCRATCH Lab into 2D and 3D digital cinema and broadcast camera workflows, the organization and management of projects and data, and how to use SCRATCH Lab for the review, versioning, color correction, conform and delivery of dailies created during production or the VFX process.

To accompany these courses, The Bridge will also provide a full training and reference manual that includes step-by-step lessons, exam overview sections, plus a DVD with training footage.

“SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab have set the performance and quality standard for digital workflow tools since the advent of the original RED One camera,” said Steve Bannerman, VP of marketing at ASSIMILATE. “The Bridge is the perfect partner to deliver official SCRATCH and Lab training in Europe because their reputation for training professionals in production and post-production is second to none. Their new SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab courses will provide comprehensive, hands-on product training that emulates real working environments, and will allow attendees to gain crucial insight into the broader aspects of how our products fit into today’s production and post production workflows.”

Natalie Brady, managing director at The Bridge Media Training, commented, “Continual innovation and learning are fundamental to the success of the creative industry ecosystem. Artists require in-depth techniques on all of today’s state-of-the-art tools to maintain their edge in today’s competitive market, while facilities rely on a broad pool of highly-skilled and trained artists to fuel their growth. We’re truly excited about our new relationship with ASSIMILATE because SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab are at the cutting edge of DI and dailies toolsets for the film and broadcast industries, and are playing vital roles in how production and post-production are evolving. Our new courses are industry-specific and are created by professionals for professionals. Attendees will obtain the intimate knowledge of the features and toolsets of SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab that they can translate directly and immediately to the workplace.”
