New remote color grading and stereo features round out IBC technology demonstrations.

IBC 2011, Amsterdam, Sept 9th, 2011 – ASSIMILATE (www.assimilateinc.com), the leading provider of powerful post-production tools for digital workflows, announced today that it has collaborated with AJA Video Systems to deliver SDI output for its industry-leading SCRATCH® and SCRATCH Lab™ products, running on Mac OS® X, via the KONA 3G card. The company also announced that, during the show, it will be previewing brand new remote grading, and stereo/3D features.

ASSIMILATE’s new collaboration with AJA will bring Mac-based workflows on par with the performance of its Windows applications, allowing artists to work with 10-bit calibrated displays and output to tape via HDSDI. This feature will be available in Q4 of 2011.

“Although we’re living in an increasingly tapeless age, producers still want the ability to incorporate tape into their workflows, while colorists need to be able to output to 10-bit displays,” commented Steve Bannerman, VP of marketing at ASSIMILATE. “AJA’s KONA 3G card is widely accepted as an extremely reliable, high-quality solution for SDI output. Because this is a particularly difficult problem to solve on the Mac, we worked closely with AJA to optimize performance and deliver maximum value to our Mac-based artists. Our customers can now choose their hardware and OS platform knowing that SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab will deliver the same performance no matter which way they go.”

“AJA has continually focused on delivering the best video interfaces for professional level applications,” said Nick Rashby, president of AJA. “We were excited to collaborate with ASSIMILATE to overcome the technical barriers to delivering high-performance SDI output to SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab users running Mac OS X. We look forward to continuing this relationship as we strive to deliver the highest quality solutions with the best price-performance to our broadcast and post customers.”

ASSIMILATE will be previewing new remote grading sessions over IP using dual SCRATCH systems, giving SCRATCH artists new commercial opportunities in today’s geographically dispersed international production industry. In addition, the company will show new 3D stereo features that make comprehensive handling of left eye and right eye images, either together or separately, far more intuitive. All of ASSIMILATE’s demonstrations will be held at its stand H7.11 at the RAI in Amsterdam.

SCRATCH Six, the most comprehensive digital cinema imaging and workflow tool for digital post-production workflows, combines color grading, compositing and finishing in a single, consistent interface that maximizes both creativity and productivity.

SCRATCH Lab is the industry's first and only comprehensive end-to-end digital lab system that brings review, versioning, conform, primary color grading, digital dailies and deliverables all into one fast, intuitive application.
