SCRATCH has been the heartbeat of 4K workflows since the introduction of the RED EPIC camera in 2010. Today, SCRATCH customers routinely deliver 4K features and work entirely in RAW camera formats.
The first phase of SCRATCH 4K workflows is native support for all popular 4K cameras including RED EPIC and Scarlet, Sony F5/F55/F65, Canon C500, Blackmagic Production Camera 4K, Blackmagic Cinema Camera and the GoPro Hero3.
Of course, SCRATCH supports the RAW formats for all these cameras. But it does so much more. For instance, SCRATCH can mix and match any camera format, resolution or colorspace (including ACES) on the same timeline, and play back in real-time.
If you work in the RED world, SCRATCH supports multiple RED Rocket cards for playback of 5K EPIC footage at frame rates as high as 48fps. SCRATCH was also the first out of the gate to support RED technologies such as HDRx and REDGamma3 and monochrome footage.
If you’re shooting Sony, SCRATCH also supports 6K and 8K modes as well as XAVC HD/4k. In fact, SCRATCH was used to finish the world’s first project, a documentary called Fuertza Brtua, shot with F65 RAW. Fuertza Bruta debuted at Sony Pictures Studios in 2012.
And of course, if you work in the world of Canon or ARRI, SCRATCH seamlessly supports popular data recorders such as Codex and Gemini.
The 4K Workflows
SCRATCH features mature, battle-tested 4K workflows for Avid Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro pipelines.
In the Avid world, SCRATCH offers robust DNxHD and MXF round trips including direct rendering to ISIS/Interplay (via the Diaquest ProductionLink Plugin). Click on image below to enlarge.

Graphics and Displays
SCRATCH supports a wide range of 4K graphics options including AMD FirePro and NVIDIA Quadro, as well as SDI options from Bluefish444 and AJA and Blackmagic Design.
SCRATCH has also been tested with several leading 4K displays and projectors including those from Christie, Eizo and Sharp.
